Wilmington, known as the “Corporate Capital of the World,” was founded as the first Swedish colony in the United States. The city is situated where the Christina and Brandywine rivers meet, halfway between New York and Washington, D.C. Due to some of its laws, it is a haven and home to a large majority of all Fortune 500 companies. It was formerly the home of the well-known du Pont family and the final destination on the Underground Railroad. Wilmington is now home to nine historic districts, 225 acres of parks, and many other entertainment venues.
