Where do I begin? Ok, for starters the ATMs are constantly out of order. Staff is less than helpful. I am referring to the Seymour Branch and the Ansonia branch. I found the Shelton branch to be reliable but I don't always have the time to go there. That being said, I plan to end my 49 Year history with this bank that has been declining rapidly through the years.
I banked with Webster Bank before it even became Webster Bank when it was Sterling and even before when it was Astoria Federal Savings. So almost 20 years. I made a one time mistake and received an overdraft fee. I was not notified I had an overdraft fee. I asked for it to be removed since it was a 1st time mistake and the employee Olga Ostrovsky said we don't remove overdraft fees with a cold and unfriendly attitude. I asked if anyone above her can help me and she said the branch manager would be the one who would be able to remove it. I called customer service and asked for branch manager Sandra Guzman to call me. She never did. I then went to another Webster bank location and asked for the overdraft fee to be removed and again was told by a much nicer young female employee that the branch manager would have to be the one to remove it. That branch manager is Donna Thompson and she was supposed to call me but also never did. Also it's not just a one time $35 fee, every week you don't pay another $35 get added on so by the time I noticed, I had an overdraft it was over $100. I would recommend not banking with Webster Bank. I closed all my accounts with Webster Bank because of this. Online banks are the better option since they give higher interest rates. I would think one of the benefits of an in person bank would be better customer service but not with the management and employees at Webster Bank. This bank will be absorbed by another bank in the near future if they continue to operate this way.
Honestly, it may be a good bank, but they have a mortgage lender named Donna Thompson who treated me like crap from the bottom of her shoe. She was referred by my realtor so I can get pre-approval for a single house. She seemed nice the 1st few days, then afterward, she will respond with "I'll call you back I'm with a customer". Which I thought I was too, but I guess not. After a week of her unprofessionalism crap, I had to let her know about herself and block her. She's forgetful, unorganized, and wash up. Such a waste of my valuable vacation. Never again!!
