I first opened a Rewards Checking acct with Origin when it was 2.78% APY(2.75% APR) up to $30k in June 2018. The bank reps were soo nice. I had to do 12 debits (any $ amt), 1 ACH(any $ amt) and online statements. Very easy to achieve. In March 2019, I was able to switch to the current 4% APY( 3.93 % APR) with requirements of: 16 debits ( any $ amt), 1 ACH (any $ amt) and online statements. The bank rep was very nice and the upgrade has been very easy to receive the high interest rate. I guess it's just the different branchs and representatives. My experience in last 14 months with Origin Bank has been great!! Highest rates in town.

The best customer service of any business I have ever dealt with. Incredibly friendly and personal service, and no bank personnel trying to sell one products or services, at all.

I opened an account with their performance checking, because they had a 4% APR rate up to $40,000. When I opened the account they held the funds for 14 days (ridiculous) then they did not disclose all the things I had to do to get the 4% interest. So, I went to transfer the money out and they limit the amount of money you can transfer! WHAT! I want to do what I need to with my money at any time. When you call, they have to transfer you to what seems like one of 4 people to answer your issues. Their online terms and conditions DO NOT STATE the maximum you can transfer although it states it does on the transfer screen.

So very primitive. The customer service reps are ignorant. Get with the times, people. I'm only with Origin (once "Community Trust") because I was added to another's account, and this is, by far, without a doubt, the worst bank I've ever dealt with. I feel like I've stepped back into the 80's, while dealing with 9th grade drop-outs without a clue working the counter. The sign-in to the online banking is constantly a nightmare. I constantly have to verify myself. The set-up is entry-level computer programmer built. Since I'm now managing the joint account, I'm switching it to a real bank, a nationwide bank.
