My first account was a construction mortgage and I added various other accounts over the years. With my construction loan, MSB in Natick walked me through the process and answered all my questions. MSB construction loan (for me) was nice because they did not charge a fee for inspecting and cutting checks. I think all the other banks charged a fee. They also had a program where they would reduce the rate for a nominal fee of $1250 or so. This had gone up to $2500 on my very last change. My loan is part of their portfolio so it won't get sold. (At least that's what they told me). I was able to lower our mortgage rate to a very good rate as a result. MSB in Needham feels like a small friendly neighborhood bank. This is the branch I frequent the most. All the tellers get along and they are always smiling. As soon as I walk in the door, they greet me with a smile and attend to us immediately. If I ever have a problem, branch managers will make the problem go away. I actually enjoy banking here and over the years, get to know various people. When I need couple of documents, we just call and they will have it ready. We wanted in to notarize a team estate document and was told they can't do that. Branch manager called near by banks and find a branch who took care of it for us. I recommend MSB to everyone and will continue to do so.

They are a reliable, conservative, solid small bank with many offices in the Boston suburbs. I like it that they always remember my name, greet me when they see me and they are very personable, so usually have a minute to chat while working. One is not 'just a number' at this bank. What also appeals to me is that they clear all checks the same day (unless it is a huge one, then it may take about 5 days) and that they are a member of the large free SUM ATM network, so I do not incur any ATM fees. Their online software, may not be the most modern, but they get the job done. One can transfer without costs between accounts online. I tried other banks after I moved further away, but had to come back to Middlesex Savings Bank, as none matched their service level (and my wife won't let me change anyway! ;-).

Honestly, I tell all my friends. They're so nice and credit you your whole deposit right away even when done through the ATM! No negatives.
