I was relocated from Washington State this October

and there are two people who are helping me since opening of my account with CPB. When I first walked in CPB Waikiki Branch, Ms. Megumi Haley helped me open new account. She was very pleasant to deal with, explained all account features services, and answer my questions clear and concise, enter all my information, make arrangement with credit card agency and reverse mortgage dept. in timely manner. Usually opening account is time consuming procedure, and I was dreading about it, but she made everything so easy. When I had issues with check deposit and credit card application, she immediately got involved and solved the problems. I feel that I can count on her! Ms. Gale Lee, Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer, is a wonderful lady with integrity! Since FHA opened up its door to condo unit reverse mortgage, she is constantly educating me how different kinds of loans work and their requirements etc. She also gave me the information of FHA approved condo buildings, and I was able to book tours of many condo units. Gale is also very kind and patient with me. I send her so many email messages asking questions, but she replies every single question that I asked in timely manner, and I learned a lot from her because she knows so much! Reverse Mortgage is rather complex procedure, but she explains to me in the way that I can understand, and now I can clearly distinctly difference of each loan. She is very hard working, even when I send emails at night expecting replies next day, but often she replied late night too! I felt bad that she was working after hour, but at the same time, I can see that she is very dedicated to her work! Even when I got chocked up thinking about my late husband (he passed away four months ago), she gave me very kind words which made me feel wonderful human side of her graciousness other than typical business-like loan officer type. Unfortunately, for the last two months I couldn't find the unit that I like and could apply for the reverse mortgage, but I haven't giving up the hope yet, nor Gale. We will be continuously communicating until I succeed. Thanks to Ms. Gale Lee, that I really do appreciate her expertise & kindness. I never ever had this kind of experience from any banking service in the past! Gale totally changed my view towards banking. Gale & Megumi are both very professional, kind, and very dedicated to their work! Overall, I got so much out from these two ladies at CPB, where Bank of Hawaii couldn't give me a credit card (even I had substantial amount of deposit, they said because since my rent is higher than my social security income), no reverse mortgage or any loan, and people made me feel like I was just a number, so I closed BoH account and moved all funding to CPB. I am currently renting and living in Hawaii Kai, and pretty satisfied with courteous and professional service at CPB Hawaii Kai Branch too!

12/21/2022-----

This is follow-up on how I received continuous support from Mrs. Gale Lee at CPB Reverse Mortgage Dept. Since I learned about reverse mortgage from her in November 2019, I targeted just one FHA approved & well-maintained condo building in the area, and I accelerated the process because FHA approval of this condo building was about expire at the end of May 2020. Prepped myself for applying reverse mortgage all the way to HECM interview step by step with Gale's assistance, and finally found the unit that I like in March 2020, and completed the purchase in 7 April, applied for reverse mortgage three days after the purchase, and got approval in less than one month! Without her support, I couldn't come this far, and able to enjoy the lifestyle that I wanted to have! Instead of all the money tide up with real estate, I can use it to my advantage, and this was right thing to do to reward myself for all these years of hard working. Thank you very much Gale!

CPB what an extreme makeover you did to your mobile platform

Website and ATM's. A+ is what you get. Mobile technology is so important. But what's more important is the continuous updates to your mobile experience. There are a few minor adjustments that I feel CPP can benefit from. Pending transactions (merchant information) is not displayed in the mobile app or the website. See photo attached. I am someone who checks my account several times throughout the day. To ensure that merchants are charging the correct amount it is super important to see the merchant information on your pending debit card transactions. I hope to see an update coming soon. What an exceptional mobile platform but inadequate system processing? Bill pay. Excellent service however, your mobile experience falls short. I should be able to see pending Bill Payments in the schedule tab versus scrolling through the entire list. Scheduled bills should be at the top in order by date. Lastly I would like to make a final suggestion. The option to rearrange your accounts in the mobile app. Right now you can only do it with linked accounts from other institutions. However, you cannot rearrange CPB accounts specific. CPB you have an exceptional mobile platform just like your customer service. These are just a few tweaks and suggestions that would make the experience seamless. I am someone who lives for mobile banking. And as exceptional as your service is in person I would like to see that experience transitioned to your mobile platform.

Just when I was about to write a review

About the Central Pacific Bank near my home and how they should add a drive through of some sort like how Pearl City has one. Downtown's Main Branch is still convenient because it's just 2 short blocks away from my home gym. Love it! Anyways, decided to go to the bank the other day and was happy that this ATM has different denominations in bills. I was in and out in no time! I think it might have been faster than the drive through since I'm always fumbling with where my wallet is in the car. That's it, I'm done. You'll also find Aloha Beer Company, Starbucks Pickup, Palama Express, Subway, and Tidepools@CPB. Parking in Downtown can be a hassle. But if you find yourself running errands in or around Downtown Honolulu, you'll find that Central Pacific Plaza is on S. King & Alakea Streets. Parking can also be validated by any CPB Staff, or any of the eateries at CPB.

Per Instagram

CPB Hawaii was asking if anyone wanted to be a vendor at Kpop Tidepools Marketplace. If interested, you email them at their email. Rachel emailed me back to fill my information about my business. 2nd email was about a number of tables needed and electricity. Final email, it was direction for parking in building. On day of event, I checked with Rachel who validated my parking and gave me assigned table. There were about 12 vendors, Nicos Restaurant, The Alley, and Pop 101.9 radio station. A major of vendors were in lobby; 2 outside of lobby, and 4 inside room by Starbucks. There lots of customers who came to check it out and who went to Starbucks. Thanks to CPB for hosting this event.

We began noticing

The renovation of the main or flagship branch of Central Pacific Bank (CPB) in late 2020. For months, its lobby was shrouded by construction barriers and we'd pass by across along the Oceanside of South King Street since the mountainside sidewalks were closed. We'd hear typical construction sounds and wonder how this branch would be re-imagined or updated...after all, we heard that CPB's drive to upgrade its technology and modernize its facility was going to cost $40 million. The modernization of its facilities focused on flexible, open spaces. One day, we stood across at the opposite corner of South King and Alakea Street to watch the workers hang the glass curtain walls. As I marveled at the glass panels, my husband shared his engineering and construction knowledge with me as he described the stick system frame (mullions) installation sequence above the construction barriers. We also noticed signs announcing a Starbucks Café and Aloha Beer Company. What? This was exciting news for downtown workers and those of us who live nearby but who'd think of serving beer in a bank??? Finally, on January 4, the newly redesigned CPB lobby opened with its upgrades that include Hawai'i's first and only Starbucks Pickup, an Aloha Beer Company kiosk serving their beers, and various quick bites, and a new co-working space named Tidepools@CPB. The lobby offers dynamic spaces for customers and community members to share ideas. On our recent walk in through the lobby, we were struck by the kinetic sculpture called Kai nuu o Kanaloa (The Rising Tide of Kanaloa). You can hear the sounds of the rolling surf from our shores. The kinetic sculpture is synchronized wirelessly with data from ocean buoys around the islands. Currently, you can see the wave movement and hear the roar of the surf from Haleiwas Waimea Bay from the sculpture throughout the lobby and out to the sidewalks outdoor seating areas. Anyway, we're not CPB customers but we sure enjoy the open lobby and the new working space called Tidepools@CPB.
